The National Disability Registry is open to all Maldivians with disabilities. It is a list of names with vital information regarding registrants disability and other pertinent information to facilitate services and assistance for persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Clause 14 of the the Disability Act (8/2010) requires to establish and maintain a Register of Persons with Disabilities. The National Disability Registry will be used to assist and plan services to meet the needs of PWDs and their families. PWDs will be registered in NDR upon application and information held on the register is confidential.
As per clause 14 of the Disability Act (8/2010) a Person with Disability (PWD) is defined as any person with long term physical, psychological, sensory or intellectual impairment that substantially limits the person from full and effective participation as any other person of the society.

Download RegulationWe understand that you may have lots of questions about applying for NDR. Hence we have put together some helpful information to guide you through the process. Please read carefully the information in this section and follow the instructions given sensibly; this will help to ensure that everything runs quickly and smoothly. You will be able to track the progress of your application online.
You will need to create a user account in the NDR using your National ID card, email address and phone number. You do not need to complete the online application form at one sitting; you can return to your partially completed application by logging back in to the system using the email address and password you create at the start of the process.
You will need to provide details and supporting documents for basic personal information, your guardian information, impairment and disability, use and requirements for assistive devices and consumable and therapeutic services
Once your application is received and processed, an authorized personnel will visit you to verify your information and complete an assessment on your functional limitations due to your disabilities.
Visit any Aasandha empaneled health facility, including your island health center and request for a NDR medical assessment to be completed by a relevant doctor.

Any Maldivian of any age, and any level of disability can apply to register on NDR, even if they live independently and have little or no support.

Anyone can register as a user on NDR and support a PWD in submitting their application form in NDR..
If you are already registered at NSPA as a PWD and receive the disability allowance, your basic information is registered in NDR. However you will need to complete the application process and update your details to complete your registration on NDR.
Being registered on the National Disability Registry will facilitate access for required services and assistance for PWDs. Registration will also enable PWDs access to the monthly disability allowance disbursed through NSPA.
Being registered on NDR also means that the relevant authorities can check if you are getting the right access and support for your disabilities.
NDR will help plan services for PWDs as information from NDR can help the local and central government to plan what type of services are required in which areas.
To submit your application you need to provide evidence of your disability or ongoing physical or mental health condition. In most cases you only need to supply one document that explains your disability.
In some cases you may be asked to provide specific evidence such as an audiogram, psychological assessment or documentation from a specialist.
If you have trouble accessing or getting an appointment from the required specialist, you may get a document or complete the NDR medical assessment from the nearest Aasandha Service provider.
